Field excursions to conservation units in
Brazilian Amazonia – supported by ICMBio and
INPA
With support from the Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade
(Bruno Tardio and Antônio Lisboa of the ICMBio) and the Instituto Nacional de
Pesquisas da Amazônia (Elen Rodrigues and Albertina Lima of the INPA), before and after the VI World Congress of Herpetology, we offer alternative field trips to three Brazilian conservation units, where students and researchers can get in touch with Amazonian wildlife. These are low budget excursions and participants should not expect fancy accommodations or rigorous schedules. Instead, everyone will be hosted in research bases located inside the conservation units and the planned time for each activity can be altered according to group dynamics or to eventual necessities. All trips will be supervised by graduate students and will count on local guides. Accommodation is limited, so there is maximum number of persons per trip. Also, economies of scale require a minimum number of participants. All costs are based on the maximum number of participants and excursions can be cancelled if the expected number of participants is not reached. The amount that you are paying covers expenses with food (3 meals/day – breakfast, lunch, dinner), transport (including fuel), local guides, and field support, only. Check each available destination and its requirements below. If you think this is not your cup of tea, and you would rather a traditional tourist excursion, you should look at one of the options offered by Orcal.
